Favorite Yoga Pose?
Pigeon. I live for opening my hips and releasing my body and energy into the ground beneath me.

Why I keep coming back to the mat?
I keep coming back to my yoga mat to get rooted and connected and to practice centering in radical presence. I come back to my mat to create a closer path to liberation. To create a path of love within my body.

If I ruled the world...
I would require people of color to take additional time to rest and restore each day! I would spread smiles and have a thriving foundation that supplies scholarships and support to young people of color to participate in wellness related workshops/trainings/etc while they forge the path to their dreams. This way it would create the space for my community of sisters and brothers to thrive and be well.

Lets Get Mentally Fit (LGMF) is a 501c3 organization that sees mental health as a lifestyle choice (just like physical health), and confronts the stigma on mental illness and trauma. LGMF supports all those who prioritize their mental health by choice and/or circumstance- stress, diagnosis, recovery, identity, etc.- and helps them make informed changes to live well and without shame, through digital resources and live events.

LGMF Founder Kela Price fully supports BREATHEBro, our signature cause campaign that offers yoga, meditation and mindfulness resources to black American men, amidst their prevailing trauma and inequality of life in this country.

Favorite Yoga Pose?
Warrior 2 because it helps me feel strong and empowered as I breathe. While in the pose, I am reassured that I’m getting somewhere, and that the next level of my warrior journey awaits.

Why I keep coming back to the mat?
So that I can "relax... relate... release!" (in the words of Whitley Gilbert ; ) Yoga helps me to lighten and brighten!

If I ruled the world...
"I'd free all my sons!!" Where I teach yoga to youth in the South Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn, they all use the term "son" when referring to another as a "friend". The song lyrics of Nas and Lauryn Hill"I'd free all my sons!!" refer to all men of the African Diaspora, who have been wrongfully imprisoned throughout this world. These legendary artists' wish is that we can all be free.. and I could not agree more.

Favorite Yoga Pose?
Half pigeon - it was challenging at first to allow myself to sink into the discomfort of the pose. Eventually, I learned to surrender to the sensations and the thoughts I associated with the sensations. Its now the most restful pose I find myself in to get a sense of ease! Coming out of it is just as rewarding. I recognized the ease/grace that can come from discomfort.

Why I keep coming back to the mat?
This is a lifelong practice and I learn something new every time, even if I’m doing the same sequence over and over again. I’ve learned when to surrender, when to lean in, when to make space, when to “rest in the sweet spot” and over the years, I’ve applied this off the mat as well.

If I ruled the world...
Everyone would experience the freedom and joy of expansion. Be it in meditation, yoga, travel, healing, love and/or community, if I ruled the world, I would create and sustain more open spaces.
